Install CyanoenMod 10 (CM10) Preview on Galaxy S3 GT-I9300

Recently AOSP Jelly Bean source released and CyanogenMod (CM) team is now continually releasing the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) for Android devices. The CyanogenMod 10 is now available for some devices in preview form such as Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300, thanks to XDA developer TeamHacksung.

A recognized XDA developer XpLoDWilD also posted a disclaimer that it’s a preview, CyanogenMod 10 is nearly ready for daily drive but many features are still not working. Like FM radio isn’t working, the camera isn’t working completely but can take photos and Wi-Fi tethering is semi-broken too. However CM10 team will iron out all bugs soon in near future.

Read on how to install official CM10 preview on Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 but first make sure that ClockworkMod recovery is installed on your device, be sure to our this guide to install ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery on your Galaxy S3 and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here [XDA LINK] and also download Google Apps from here to PC.

Step #2: Transfer both downloaded files CM10 .zip file and gapps-jb-20120713.zip to SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down by holding down volume down, home and power buttons until the screen turn on.

Step #5: Once you’re in recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because it will allow you to go back to original state, to make nandroid backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform wipe, to wipe device, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #7: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the CM10 .zipf ile , then confirm installation by selecting yes.

Step #8: Once again repeat the step 7 but now install gapps-jb-20120713.zip.

Step #9: After installation, you need to reboot your phone, to do so select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”

That’s it, you’re done. The CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) is now installed on your device. When you want to go back to original state, simply power off phone and reboot into recovery mode, then select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Restore” again.
