Install CyanogenMod 10.1 Milestone Build for Nexus 4 E960


The CyanogenMod is one of most popular custom ROM that you can come up with because of deep customization and handy apps, the CyanogenMod mostly released nightly builds for their custom ROM that generates new builds on daily basis to bring new improvements but it might brings bugs too and this is the reason some people stay away from them but now CyanogenMod has released Millstone builds for Android that is reliable to try, CyanogenMod Milestone builds are very stable and you may taste these builds without any fear as they are good enough to use on daily basis.

Of course the Nexus 4 is one of best smartphone to receive latest Android updates as well as custom ROM builds as the CyanogenMod team has released the CyanogenMod 10.1 Milestone for Nexus 4 E960 first. So if you love AOSP experience but with some customizable features and useful apps such as Apollo music player, T1 dialer, file manager and more.

The below guide walks you through how to MoDoCa ROM for Nexus 4 E960. Your Nexus 4 should have unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery installed, check our this guide to install ClockworkMod recovery or this guide to install TWRP recovery and check this guide to unlock bootloader. All-in-toolkit is also available for the smartphone. Backup everything, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the CyanogenMod 10.1 milestone build for Google Nexus 4 from here and Google Apps package from here.

Step #2: Place zip file to your Nexus 4.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode, to do so reboot phone by holding down volume down and power buttons to enter in bootloader mode, there use volume keys to navigate and power button to select. Highlight the recovery option and enter in recovery mode with power button.

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again. If you’re on TWRP recovery, select “backup” and confirm the action.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. In the end return to main menu, there select “advance”, then select wipe Dalvik Cache and confirm the action.

Step #7: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.

Step #8: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. If you’re on TWRP recovery, select “install” and locate the ROM zip file.

Step #9: Install the Google Apps package zip file in same manners.

Step #10: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot the smartphone.
