Install CyanogenMod 9.1 on Xperia S LT26i
The CyanogenMod 9.1 ROM has just been released for the Sony Xperia S LT26i that based on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, it’s AOSP ROM that gives you fully stock Android Ice Cream Sandwich experience, CyanogenMod packed the ROM with numerous customizable features that allow you to customize and tweak different aspects of the ROM’s interface, thanks to recognized XDA developer member FXP.
The CyanogenMod 9.1 is still under development stages, so it might has some bugs but it’s stable for the daily use and very it’s functional.
The below guide will you through how to install Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich based CyanogenMod 9.1 ROM on Sony Xperia LT26i. The bootloader of your Xperia S must be unlocked. Use a Windows PC and ADB (Android Debug Bridge) and phone’s device drivers also should be installed on your PC, you can follow our this guide to install ADB. Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #1: Download following required files from here and here: ClockworkMod Recovery (recovery-nozomi.img) – CyanogenMod 9.1 (FXP135-cm-9-20120824-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip) – Google Apps package (gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip) – Fastboot (fastboot-win32.zip)
Step #2: Copy downloaded CynaogenMod 9.1 .zip file and Google Apps .zip file to internal SD card of your phone.
Step #3: Unzip the downloaded fastboot-win32.zip file into C:, then copy the downloaded recovery-nozomi.img into fastboot folder too.
Step #4: Switch the device off and reboot into fastboot mode, to do so, reboot phone by holding down volume up key while plugging the phone to PC using USB cable.
Step #5: Run command prompt on PC (It can be found from Start > All Programs > Accessories).
Step #6: Enter following command on command prompt, it will take you to fastboot directory:
Step #7: Enter another following command on command prompt, it will show the serial number of phone, which means the device is connected to PC properly (Note: If it doesn’t show the serial number, device drivers aren’t installed on PC properly):
Step #8: Enter following command to install ClockworkMod recovery img:
fastboot flash boot recovery-nozomi.img
Once the recovery is installed on the phone, you’ll get “finished/OKAY” message but it doesn’t show message enter another following command to install recovery:
fastboot -i 0x0fce flash boot recovery-nozomi.img
Step #9: Once the recovery is installed on the phone, enter another following command to reboot phone (it will reboot phone in recovery mode):
Step #10: Once you’re in recovery mode, select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Once the installation is done, also install the Google Apps .zip file in the same manner.
Step #11: Go back to main recovery mode, there perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. Lastly select Advanced > Wipe Dalvik cache and confirm the action on the next screen.
Step #12: Turn off the phone.
Step #13: Once again, repeat the 4 to boot phone in fastboot mode.
Step #14: On the command prompt enter following command to install required kernel:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Once the recovery is installed on the phone, you’ll get “finished/OKAY” message.
Step #15: Enter following command to reboot phone, it will now reboot into normal mode:
