Install CyanogenMod 9 Based On Android 4.0.3 ICS On Your Motorola Droid 2 Global [How-To]
Good news for the owners of Motorola Droid 2 Global, now they can enjoy Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich on their device, CyanogenMod 9 for their Motorola Droid 2 Global, this ROM based on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, however it still in beta stage so you can expect some bugs, such as camera, Android Market, and data connectivity with EDGE/3G.
If you’re interested follow below guide to install it, but keep in mind that your device must be rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed its battery should be charged. Please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure will wipe all data, you can use this app to backup. You can install ROM Manager app to reboot device in recovery mode easily too.
DISCLAIMER: The below method is bit risky and we will not be held responsible if you lose data or your device gets damaged in the following of this guide so please proceed at your own risk.
Instructions
Step #1: First download the CyangogenMod 9 and Google Apps to PC.
Step #2: Connect the device to PC using USB cable and copy the two files to the root of your phone’s SD card.
Step #3: Discconet the device from PC and turn it off.
Step #4: Reboot device into ClockworkMod Recovery. Use ROM Manager and selecting “Reboot into Recovery” or by rebooting to ClockworkMod Recovery manually.
Step #5: In recovery mode, do a nandroid backup of your phone. Better safe than sorry. The backup will come in handy if every you need to revert to an earlier setup after a failed installation.
Step #6: Select “Wipe data/ factory reset” from the options in the main menu. After which, select “Wipe Dalvik Cache” and “Wipe Cache” under the Advanced Settings menu. This is to ensure that you have a completely clean cache for the new ROM to use.
Step #7: Now select “Install zip from SD card”.
Step #8: Select “Choose zip from SD card”. Browse the contents of your SD card and locate the CyanogenMod 9 ZIP file that you have copied (that is, “N.HA D2G CM9-ICS 4.0.3 Alpha 1.zip”). Once it installed, also install the Google Apps zip file in the same manner.
