Install CyanogenMod 9 Nightly Build on Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G


The nightly build of CyanogenMod 9 has arrived for the Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G, the build is based on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. It’s pretty customizable custom ROM, nightly builds automatically generate every night, thanks to XDA developer member codeworkx. The ROM is under development and has some bugs like Wi-Fi direct isn’t working and since nightly build change automatically, it may contains some bugs.

But if you’re interested, here’s step by step guide to install the ROM. To install the ROM, your device must be on Ice Cream Sandwich with ClockworkMod Recovery installed, the device battery should be charged and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Install First Time CM9

Step #1: Download the CyanogenMod 9 nightly build and Google Apps Package to PC.

Step #2: Plug the device to PC using USB cable.

Step #3: Transfer the downloaded file to root of device’s SD card.

Step #4: Disconnect the device from PC.

Step #5: Turn the device off.

Step #6: Reboot the device into recovery mode volume up, power and home buttons until screen turn on (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #7: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #8: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.

Step #9: Once again repeat the last step to install the Google apps Package.

Step #10: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #11: Select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”

Install From Earlier version CM9

Step #1: Download the CyanogenMod 9 nightly build from here [XDA link].

Step #2: Copy file to root of device’s SD card.

Step #3: Turn off phone and reboot the device into recovery mode volume up, power and home buttons until screen turn on (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #4: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.

Step 5: Select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”

That’s it, you’ve flashed the CM9 on the device.
