Install CyanogenMod 9 on Sprint Galaxy Nexus


A new CyanogenMod 9 ROM has been released for your Sprint Galaxy Nexus, the ROM has a long number of customization options and performance improvements, the ROM brings a clean and smooth experience on your Sprint Galaxy Nexus. The ROM is still in beta stage so you can expect some bugs but it’s very stable for daily use and the developer will fix all bugs soon in near future.

Read on how to install CyanogenMod 9 on Sprint Galaxy Nexus but first due to the radio firmware upgrade issues, developer recommend you to install FD02 version OTA upgrade prior to unlocking your bootloader and replacing the firmware. The bootloader of your device must be unlocked and the ClockworkMod recovery should be installed on your device. Charge the device battery and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the CM9 and Google apps to PC.

Step #2: Plug the device to PC using USB cable.

Step #3: Transfer the downloaded file to device.

Step #4: Disconnect the device from PC.

Step #5: Turn the device off.

Step #6: Reboot the device into recovery mode, hold down volume up, volume down and power key, the device will enter in fastboot mode, there select the recovery option.

Step #7: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #8: Perform full wipe, first select Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset  and confirm on next screen then select Wipe Cache and confirm on the next screen.

Step #9: Select Install and locate the downloaded CM9 file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #10: Once again select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded Google apps file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.

Step #11: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.” That’s it enjoy!
