Install “Elite” AOSP Android 4.0.4 ICS ROM on Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000

As we all know well that Samsung Galaxy S will not get Ice Cream Sandwich update as Samsung announced. But you can install unofficial ROM on your Galaxy S to taste Ice Cream Sandwich. XDA developer artikeln has made fantastic ROM for your Samsung Galaxy S Gt-I9000 “Elite” that is based on AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich, it’s from Galaxy Nexus Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Elite ROM has great features and improvements such as multitasking menu, Bravia Engine, MIUI music, Better 3D/2D and more. However it’s still in development, so you can expect some bugs but it’s stable for daily use, which means you can try this ROM on Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000.

If you’re interested follow below guide, but keep in mind that your battery should be charged. Please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure will wipe all data, you can use file expert app to backup. If your device running Ice Cream Sandwich ROM, follow below guide, if not, install Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread Value Pack XXJVU, you can follow this guide to install it after that you’ll need to root your Samsung Galaxy S Gt-I9000 and install ClockworkMod recovery too, you can follow this guide to do it. Remember below guide is just for Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000.

DISCLAIMER: The below method is bit risky and we will not be held responsible if you lose data or your device gets damaged in the following of this guide so please proceed at your own risk.

Instructions

Step #1: First of all download latest version of ELIT from herehere,here, or here to PC.

Step #2: Now on your Samsung Galaxy S, go to Settings > Location and Security > SIM Card Lock.  Make sure the checkbox is cleared, after that turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development. Then, make sure that USB debugging is checked.

Step #3: Plug the device to PC using USB cable and transfer the downloaded file to internal storage of your phone, not the microSD card.

Step #4: Turn the phone off and reboot into ClockworkMod recovery by pressing the Volume Up,  Home, and Power buttons at the same time until you see the screen light up.

Step #5: Wipe data:

    • Choose Wipe factory data/factory reset and confirm on the next screen by selecting yes.
    • Choose Wipe cache and confirm on the next screen by selecting yes.
    • Go to Advanced, then choose Wipe Dalvik cache and confirm by selecting yes and go back to the main recovery menu.

Step #6: Now select Install zip from SD card > Choose zip from SD cardand choose the Elite ROM that you copied to the phone. Once the file is chosen, confirm the installation (Phone may reboot to recovery mode during the installation and then resume, but if the installation does not resume, repeat this step).

Step #7: After installation, select Go back and reboot your device by selectingReboot system now. That’s it enjoy, don’t forget to comment below.
