Install ICS AOKP Build 40 on Galaxy Tab P1000

As you know that the Samsung won’t release the Android 4.1 Ice Cream Sandwich for the Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 but mostly Galaxy Tab users wish to taste the Ice Cream Sandwich, they should say thanks to XDA developer hendryedwardros. The developer has released the latest AOKP build 38 that is based on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich for tablet.

The AOKP is familiar Android custom ROM that comes with number of customizable features, this ROM will give you completely stock Android experience but one thing you should keep in mind that the ROM is still in development stages which means it has some bugs but if you want taste the Ice Cream Sandwich flash the ROM via below guide.

Do note that your device must be rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed its battery should be charged. Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #1: Download AOKP from XDA and Google Apps to PC.

Step #2: Plug the device to PC using USB cable.

Step #3: Transfer the downloaded file to the internal SD card of device.

Step #4: Disconnect the device from PC.

Step #5: Turn the device off.

Step #6: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up and power buttons until screen turns on (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #7: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #8: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. Lastly return to main menu and select Advanced, then select Wipe Dalvik Cacheand confirm it on next screen.

Step #9: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete. Then also install Google apps in the same manner.

Step #10: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.” The first boot may take time so please wait.

That’s it, you’re done.

    If I update wIll I be able to go back to the orIgInal rom? Will it run smoothly on my galaxy tab?

      of course dear..before installation take backup in recovery mode as i mention in recovery mode and after installation when you need to go back, restore the backup…

      Navibar/on screen softkeys still broken – temporary fix – Setting > Rom Control > Navigation Bar > put device in landscape > either change the Navigation quantity to any number then preferred choice or change Navigation bar height or width. (AOKP need to fix this)
      Navibar icons go tiny whenever a menu button appears. To fix this just add a menu button in the Navibar settings in Rom Control.
