Install Jelly Bean based Blackbean ROM on Galaxy S

Samsung Galaxy S seems a Android device that can’t be forgotten by Android community, the Galaxy S still getting attention from Android development community and here at Android Egis, we’re with another update for the smartphone, a new custom ROM named “BAKED galaxysmtd blackbean” for the  Galaxy S has been released that is based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, it’s stock Jelly Bean based ROM but also has a lot of customizable features.

The ROM includes the Rom Control option and AOKP Toggles, the developer also added some CyanogenMod features such as power widgets, lockscreen shortcuts, lockscreen weather, lockscreen calendar, DSP manager and more. The developer made a new customized MMS app, system apps and Google Apps, and it still being updated to add some more features.

It’s important to note that it’s AOSP ROM, which means, might be some Samsung firmware features are missing such as 3G video calling and FM radio, you’ll need to use third party apps to get them working.

The below guide will walk you through how to install blackbean ROM on Galaxy S GT-I9000, but first make sure that your device is running stock XXJW4 firmware and rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed, you can check your device detail from Setting>About Phone, you can follow our this guide to install XXJW4 firmware and this guide to root and install ClockworkMod recovery on XXJW4 firmware.

On your phone, remove SIM Card lock, if you have set it earlier, to do so, go to Settings>Location and Security>SIM Card lock, there make sure the checkbox is clear and be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here [XDA Link].

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded file to the internal SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #7: From the main menu, select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #8: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
