When Samsung launched the original Samsung Galaxy Tab, it runs Android 2.2 Froyo, after some months, Samsung released Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for it and after that Samsung said good bye to the tablet but Android development community is still determined to get the latest Android operating system version using different custom ROMs, that’s why the tablet recently received CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) ROM that based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.
The CM10 is AOSP (Android Open Source Project) based ROM, so it will give you fully stock Jelly Bean experience and it brings a smooth interface to your tablet. The Jelly Bean also comes a decent punch of features such as advanced camera, keyboard and notification bar, it features new search feature and Google Now app.
The CM10 ROM is still under development, so it might contains some bugs like the back camera crash while you’re taking photos , however the CyanogenMod team will iron out bugs soon in near future.
Take a look at below guide to learn how to install Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean based CyanogenMod 10 on Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000. Do keep in mind that this CM10 build is just for Samsung Galaxy Tab GSM variant model number GT-P1000 and the ClockworkMod Recovery must be installed on the tablet. Be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #1: Download the CyanogenMod 10 nightly build and and Google Apps package from XDA.
Step #2: Transfer the downloaded file to the internal SD card of tablet.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up and power buttons (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).
Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.
Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. Lastly from the main menu, select Advanced then select Wipe Dalvik cache and confirm the action on the next screen.
Step #7: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete. Once the ROM .zip file is installed on the tablet, also install the Google Apps package .zip file in the same manner.
Step #8: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
