Install Jelly Bean Based CM10 on Nexus S
Android is a open source mobile operating system, this is the reason, you buy an Android device for, it’s pretty easy to customize Android devices, people love install custom ROMs to upgrade their Android devices, not a while ago Google released Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and custom ROMs are a best way to taste Jelly Bean.
The Nexus S already has received many custom ROMs and now Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean based CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) custom ROM is also available for the Nexus S unofficially. The ROM gives you stock Jelly Bean experience and has number of new features, but the ROM is still in development stages, so you may face bugs, Wi-Fi tethering isn’t working currently.
Take a look at below guide to flash CyanogenMod 10 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on your Nexus S. The ClockworkMod recovery must be installed on your Nexus S, the bootloader of your phone also should be unlocked, you can follow this guide to install touch ClockworkMod recovery. Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #1: Download following four required files from XDA (Link is given at bottom of post): Jelly Bean CM10 Build 6 – Google Apps – Root package – GPS Fix package
Step #2: Place downloaded .zip files into SD card of device.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode, to do so, reboot phone by holding down volume down, and power buttons, the phone will enter in fastboot mode, there use volume keys to navigate and power key to select menus, you need to select recovery option from fastboot mode to enter in recovery mode.
Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.
Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.
Step #7: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.
Step #8: Repeat last step to install Root package .zip file.
Step #9: Repeat step 7 to install Google Apps .zip file.
Step #10: Once again, repeat step 7 to install GPS Fix package .zip file.
Step #11: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
That’s it, enjoy CyanogenMod 10, please note that you have to active root access manually for apps, to do so, simply open Superuser app, a screen will appear, tap on OK, then tap on wrench icon that can seen in top right to access Settings, or tap Menu button, then select Settings/Preferences.
