The Samsung Captivate is really powerful Android smartphone, not a while ago, Samsung Galaxy S3 received Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean based Paranoid Android custom ROM that is now also available for the Samsung Captivate, the ROM brings a tablet-like interface on your smartphone, thanks to XDA developer member Ir0nLy0n, it will turn your Samsung Captivate into a phablet like Samsung Galaxy Note. But the ROM is still in beta stage, so bugs can be expected.

Make sure tha ClockworkMod recovery is installed on phone and male backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of Paranoid Android custom ROM from here [XDA LINK] and also download Google Apps package from here or here.

Step #2: Place downloaded .zip files into the internal SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off and reboot into recovery mode by holding down the volume up, volume down and power buttons.

Step #4: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it will make you able to easily revert back to your current state when you need. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #5: Perform wipe, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #6: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded Slim Bean ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation, after ROM installation, install Google Apps .zip file in the same manner.

Step #7: Once the installation is completed, simply reboot phone and enjoy, to do select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now”.
