Install Jelly Bean Based “Slim Bean” on Infuse 4G

Couple of Android devices recently saw the Slim Bean ROM , the slimmest custom ROM around the world of Android, it’s trimmed size Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean ROM, the size is just 80MB to 100MB, though it’s lightweight ROM but it brings a fast performance to your Android device and gives you pure Android device.

The Slim Bean ROM has no bloatware and the interface is very clean. Jelly Bean adds number of new features and apps like it introduce the Google Now app, a smarter keyboard and bit improved notification & camera app.

A recognized XDA contributor mg2195 has just ported the Slim Bean ROM to Samsung Infuse 4G I997 but unofficially, the ROM is still under development and might contains some bugs and issues but ready to try.

Continue reading to learn how to install Slim Bean ROM on Infuse 4G i997, your Infuse 4G must be on UCLB3 firmware and rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed, check your device detail from Setting>About Phone, if you’re not on UCBL3 firmware, follow our this guide to install UCBL3 firmware and follow our this guide to root and install ClockworkMod on Infuse 4G running UCBL3 firmware. Be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download following Slim Bean ROM files: I997.zip Common_2.zip (download latest version)

Step #2: Transfer both downloaded .zip files to the internal SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, volume down and power buttons, when screen Samsung logo appear, you need to leave power button but not volume keys until you enter in recovery mode (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #7: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded i997.zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Those of you running Gingerbread or ICS, your phone will reboot two times during the installation, then boot into recovery mode after installation, if the .zip file finish installation in less than five seconds, then install it again.

Step #8: Once again, select “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded Common_2.zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.

Step #9: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”

That’s it, the Slim Bean is now installed on your Infuse 4G. it’s important to note that the ROM doesn’t include Google Now and Face unlock features, you have to install them separately, to install them, download .zip files from here and install them in recovery mode.
