Install Jelly Bean CyanogenMod 10 on T-Mobile Galaxy S2

The CyanogenMod 10 has already been released for the Galaxy S2 I9100, I9100G and Skyrocket, how developers can miss T-Mobile Galaxy S2 SGH-T989 variant, the CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) has arrived for the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 officially, it based on latest Google’s mobile operating system, the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, that is really faster and comes with so many new apps and features such as Google Now app (lets you to search history), better camera app (you can review the photos using film-strip view and share with two taps), improved Android Beam app, new users interface, home screen, notification bar (you can send and receive emails, texts, calls and more from the notification center), auto arrange able widgets and much more. CyanogenMod 10 is AOSP (Android Open Source Project) ROM, so it will give you fully stock Android experience, thanks to TeamChopsticks development team for this great effort.

Do keep in mind that since the CyanogenMod 10 is in its earlier stages, the ROM may has some bugs, the ROM may not be fully stable, some things might not work fine. But if you really want to try Jelly Bean, continue reading to install CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2.

ClockworkMod recovery should be installed on device, follow our this guide to install recovery, you also need to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here [Official LINK], download Google Apps from here, lastly download required modem from here.

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded .zip files to SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, volume down and power buttons.

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded Tmo_SGH-T989_UVLE1_radio.zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #7: Select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”

Step #8: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #9: Return to main menu, select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file.

Step #10: Repeat the last step to install Google apps .zip file (gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip).

Step #11: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
