Install Jelly Bean on Photon 4G via Unofficial CyanogenMod 10 [How To]

The Android community hasn’t forget the Motorola Photon 4G for Jelly Bean, recently the Motorola Photon 4G received the CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) that based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, the ROM brings a smooth performance, smooth as butter, the Jelly Bean brings lots of new features such as Google Now app, new smarter keyboard app, new notification bar, and much more, say thanks to recognized XDA developer member jokersax11 for this great effort.

But the ROM is still under development, there are may be some bugs and issues in the ROM, some things are missing.

Take a look at below guide to learn how CyanogenMod 10 can be flashed on your Motorola Phone 4G, device bootloader must be unlocked, you can use this guide to unlock and ClockworkMod recovery also should be installed on the phone. Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #1: Download required following files: CyanogenMod 10 [XDA LINK] – Google Apps Package –  Super User [for Root] – [custom recovery for installation]

Step #2: Transfer all downloaded .zip files to internal SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete. Once the installation is done, the device will reboot itself, if doesn’t happen, reboot manually, to so return to main menu and select reboot recovery to reboot into the required custom recovery.

Step #7: In recovery mode, perform wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #8: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve downloaded from XDA and confirm installation.

Step #9: Repeat the last step to install Google Apps .zip file.

Step #10: Once again repeat the step 8 to install file.

Step #11: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”

    Hey Buddy.. I have a photon 4G and got it from US Cellular. Is this support with that? My Current OS GB 2.3.5 Is this stable one for Moto Photon 4G?

      no….you should test it on just international variant…..
