Google has released Ice Cream Sandwich update for many Android device but not for T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-T989 yet. Thanks to XDA developer Racing19969 who released AT&T Galaxy S2 Skyrocket ROM that based on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, this ROM has great features and improvements, but it’s still in beta which means it has some bugs like auto-rotate and shutdown not working. If you really want Ice Cream Sandwich follow below guide to install it.

Keep in mind that your device must be rooted with ClockworkMod recovery installed its battery should be charged. Create backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure will wipe all data, you can use file expert app to backup.

DISCLAIMER: The below method is bit risky and we will not be held responsible if you lose data or your device gets damaged in the following of this guide so please proceed at your own risk.

Instructions

Step #1: Download Ported version of AT&T’s Android 4.0.3 from here or here pr here.

Step #2: Plug the device to PC using USB cable and transfer the downloaded ROM file to internal SD card of device.

Step #4: Disconnect the device from PC and turn the device off.

Step #5: Reboot the device into recovery mode by pressing and holding down the Volume Up, Volume Down, and Power keys.

Step #6: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of existing ROM, if anything should not work out something expected on this ROM, it will helps you to easily revert back to your current state, to create select “Backup and Restore”, and on the screen that follows select “Backup” again.

Step #7: Return to main menu and wipe data:

• Select “Wipe Data/Factory Reset” and confirm the reset.
• Go to Advanced and then select “Wipe Dalvik Cache.”  Confirm the cache wipe.

Step #8: Once again repeat last step.

Step #9: Return to main menu and Select “Install ZIP from SD Card.”  Select the Android 4.0 ZIP file to start installation.

Step #10: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.” After that leave your device for ten minutes, when AT&T Readtogo screen appear, tap Cancel and allow the installation to continue for some minutes.
