Install Nightly Build of Jelly Bean on Motorola Xoom

When Google released the Jelly Bean? Google said that Motorola Xoom will also get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update soon in near future, Google jelly Bean comes with amazing new features but Xoom software update hasn’t been released yet. But Team EOS XOOM custom ROM has been ported to the Motorola Xoom 4G and Wi-Fi version that based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Nightly builds.

The ROM is stable but still in development stage, you many face bugs but if you can’t wait for Jelly Bean release, this ROM is solution for you to taste Jelly Bean. For those who don’t know about nightly builds, these builds automatically generated every now and then, and represent the compilation of the latest commits to the code repository, which mean it may also has bugs.

Before installation first do note a custom recovery should be installed on your Motorola Xoom, you can use this Android app to install ClockworkMod recovery and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here and also download Google Apps from here and copy both .zip files to SD card of device.

Step #2: Power off device and reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up + power buttons until you see Motorola logo, there press volume down and “Android Recovery” will show up, then press volume up to boot into recovery.

Step #3: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #4: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen.

Step #5: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the ROM .zip file and confirm installation, once the installation is done, also install Google apps in the same manner.

Step #6: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”

That’s it, you’re done.
