Install Official Android 4.0.3 ICS XWLPD on Galaxy S2

Samsung has released a new Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware “XWLPD” that brings a smooth experience on your Galaxy S3. The firmware is for all  Nordic countries, we can’t say anything about its release for other countries. The firmware improve the battery life of device, it comes with many bug fixes such as Google PLAY Store force close bug, Brightness bug, games bugs, and Camera image clarity.

Follow the below guide to install the XWLPD firmware on every Samsung Galaxy S2 manually but first please note that this is just Samsung Galaxy S2 model number GT-I9100, don’t try it any other model or device, you can check your device detail from Setting>About Phone. USB drivers must be installed on your PC, you can download the 32 bit (x86) Windows from here and 64-bit (x64) Windows from here, but make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the XWLPD and Odin 1.85 to computer and unzip it into a single folder, you’ll get file I9100XWLPD_I9100XXLPW_I9100NEELP4_HOME.tar.md5 that will be used in step 6.

Step #2: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into download mode by pressing and holding down the Volume Down, Home, and Power keys until a sign appears on the screen.

Step #5: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear.

Step #6: Click on PDA Button and locate I9100XWLPD_I9100XXLPW_I9100NEELP4_HOME.tar.md5 from the folder you got in first step. (Note: You no need to make any other change in Odin, so leave all other options).

Step #7: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS.

Step #8: Unplug the device from PC.
