Install Official Android 4.0.3 ICS “XXLPY” Firmware on Galaxy Note N7000 [How-To]
Samsung has rolled out Ice Cream Sandwich update for many Android devices such as Galaxy S2, now the owners of Samsung Galaxy Note should be happy to know that Samsung has started rolling out Ice Cream Sandwich XXLPY update for Samsung Galaxy Note in Europe through OTA (Over The Air), the update is just for Germany and it will be available for other regions of the world soon, but if you have no ability of wait, you can upgrade your Samsung Galaxy Note to Ice Cream Sandwich manually.
As usually here’s step by step guide to manually install Ice Cream Sandwich update on your Samsung Galaxy Note, keep in mind the below guide is just for Samsung Galaxy Note model number N7000, you can check the device detail from Setting>About Phone. The device drivers must be installed on computer you can download 32 bit (x86) Windows from here and 64-bit (x64) Windows from here. Disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program, please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps, and turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development.

Step #1: Download the XXLPY firmware and Odin 1.85 to computer and unzip it into a single folder.
Step #2: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin 1.85.exe.
Step #3: Click on PDA Button and locate N7000XXLPY_N7000XALPY_N7000XXLPT_HOME.tar.md5 from the folder that you got in step 1. (Note: Don’t make any changes in Odin).
Step #4: Turn the device off.
Step #5: Reboot the device into download mode by holding down Volume Down and Home and Power buttons till a warring screen appear on device, then press the Volume up button to enter in download mode.
Step #6: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear.
Step #7: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS in Odin.
Step #8: That’s it, Once the Samsung logo appear on device, disconnect the device from PC and enjoy!
