Sony has released the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich officially for the Sony Xperia S, but it you’ve haven’t received the Ice Cream Sandwich update or can’t update the smartphone via OTA update, do manually install the Ice Cream Sandwich on your Xperia S, the latest Ice Cream Sandwich firmware version 6.1.A.0.452 is now available for you. Do note that the firmware is just for Xperia S model number LT26i, you can check the device detail from Setting->About Phone.

Follow the below procedure to install the firmware but make sure you’re using Windows PC and make  backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the 6.1.A.0.452 Firmware FTF and Flash Tool to your PC.

Step #2: Extract the downloaded .ftf file on C:/Drive > flashtool > firmwares>, make sure that no other files are there in the mentioned place.

Step #3: Now run the flash tool.

Step #4: Click on the “File option”.

Step #5: Select the “flash mode” and then select the “LT26 6.1.A.0.452″ firmware and click “OK”, don’t make any other changes. The tool make time to prepare files, so wait.

Step #6: A window will open say you to plug the device with instructions, ignore and turn the device off, then reboot into flashmode, to do so, hold down volume down button while connecting the phone to PC using USB cbake when a green LED shows on device, the phone is in flashmode. The flashing tool will start installation, then leave the volume key. Wait until installation is done.

Step #7: Unplug the device from PC and turn it on, the first boot make time to wait.
