Install Official Android 4.0.4 ICS XXLQ9 Firmware on Galaxy R I9103
Finally the Samsung is going to roll out the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware update officially for the Samsung Galaxy R I9103, the firmware version is I9103XXLQ9, it’s also a TouchWiz based firmware, the update is for Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom and you’ll get OTA notification soon in near future. However those of you have ability of wait for the notification can install the update manually on the phone.
Here’s step by guide to learn how to install official Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich XXLQ9 firmware on any Samsung Galaxy R. Use a Windows PC and USB drivers must be installed on the PC, you can use Samsung KIES to install drivers but before installation disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program, please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps, and turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development.

Instructions
Step #1: Download the I9103XXLQ9 Firmware (GT-I9103_NEE_I9103XXLQ9_I9103NEELQ9_I9103XXLQ3.zip) to your PC.
Step #2: Unzip the downloaded .zip file into a folder.
Step #3: Download the ODIN v1.85 to computer and unzip it into a single folder, you’ll use to install the firmware.
Step #4: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin.
Step #5: Turn the device off.
Step #6: Reboot the device into download mode by pressing and holding down volume down, home and power buttons until screen turns on and shows an Android logo, then press power button again to enter in download mode.
Step #7: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).
Step #8: Click on PDA Button and locate the I9103XXLQ9_I9103NEELQ9_I9103XXLQ3_HOME.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above downloaded firmware file in the step 2. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #9: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.
Step #10: That’s it, unplug the device from PC and enjoy!

Thanks buddy, i’m able to upgrade but unable to root it, can help it pls.. i’ve tried using clockWokMod everthing gone well, but didn’t got root access to remove samsung bloatware

no, it’s official firmware not a custom firmware, so you no need to root first…

Everything works good,only zooming and rotaiting photos are lagish and phone on homescreen opens very slow,have enybody that problem too?
