Install Official Android 4.0.4 XXLPY firmware on Galaxy S2 I9100G

Own a Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G? Well! We’ve got good news for you, Samsung has released another official firmware for your Galaxy S2 i9100G, the firmware version is XXLPY and it based on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, the update brings a faster performance and it’s very stable, it’s great Samsung’s effort to make Galaxy S2 i9100G users happy.

Currently the firmware is available in Europe and Nordic countries but it will be available in other countries soon in near future, however if you can’t wait, or you haven’t received the update notification n your phone due to any reason, you can install XXLPY firmware on your Galaxy S2 i9100G manually.

Read on how to install Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich based XXLPY firmware on Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100G. Do keep in mind that device’s USB drivers must be installed on your phone, you can download the drivers from here or here. Be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download XXLPY Android 4.0.4 ICS firmware from here or here to computer and unzip it into a single folder, you’ll get two files I9100GXXLPY_I9100GXXLPV_I9100GDBTLP3_HOME.tar.md5 and SS_DL.dll (you can ignore this file).

Step #2: Download the Odin 1.85 from here and unzip into a folder. Then open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin.

Step #3: Make sure the phone isn’t connected with the PC and turn the phone off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into download mode by holding down volume down, home and power buttons, a warning screen will show up on the screen, when it happen, press the volume up button and it will take you to download mode.

Step #5: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).

Step #6: Click on PDA Button and locate I9100GXXLPY_I9100GXXLPV_I9100GDBTLP3_HOME.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 1 (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).

Step #7: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.

Step #8: If your phone reboot into normal mode after installation, you’re done but if your phone gets stuck at boot, don’t worry, just perform wipe, do to so, turn off phone and reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons, in recovery mode, select Wipe data/Factory Reset, and confirm the action on the next screen. After that reboot the phone by selecting reboot system now to reboot the phone.

    sir gud pm i dnt know how to return back to normal my phone gt i9100g. i have ICS 4.0.4 XXLPY itry to much firmware but when i put in odin it say “fail” sir help me to return my phone to normal tnx bro and also give me the link..

      sir you can download any official firmware from sammobile.com even depending on your country, you should perform wipe in recovery mode and then try to put your phone in Odin mode again, don’t forget to make backup….

    this is my problem sir i have no backup files.. AFG XXPY ICS 4.0.4 sir what compatible from my phone… give me the link sir now 1 week still dead my phone i try to much to research but always fail.. help me sir to solve this problem… thankzzz

    sir this is the problem i cannot open my phone stock up only in logo custom binary count 35 the problem is the firmware always fail when i try the official firmware.. sir you have idea how to solve my problem..

      your phone must be in download mode to use Odin…… seems that you’ve bricked your phone but I’m assuming that it’s recoverable that is possible with the installation of a official firmware, ensure you’re using the right combination of buttons to get phone in Odin mode….volume down, home and power

        i used odin sir v3.07 say pass but stock up with the logo only.. sir you give me the right firmware compatible
        for my phone GT-I9100G. XXLPY… modem,csc.pda.. i dont know how to return my phone to orig. os..

          turn off phone and reboot phone into recovery mode, to do this boot phone holding down volume up, home and power buttons, in recovery mode, select Wipe data/Factory Reset, and confirm the action on the next screen. After that reboot the phone by selecting reboot system now to reboot the phone, it will hopefully get phone in working position…….
