Install Official Android 4.1.2 firmware for Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi manually – stock but rooted
Yesterday Google rolled out the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi official through OTA (over the air), that is now available for manual installation, those of you own a Xoom Wi-Fi but can’t upgrade it via OTA, install the manually, thanks to recognized XDA developer member stachre who released this OTA for manual installation.
He posted a rooted stock Android 4.1.2 JZ054K OTA for Xoom, so those of you who love to keep their Android devices rooted, immediately install it to upgrade your tablet. Make sure ClockworkMod recovery is installed, you check this guide to install ClockworkMod. Be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #1: Download the OTA Android 4.1.2 update for Motorola Xoom from here.
Step #2: Transfer the downloaded file to the external SD card of device.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode, to do so reboot tablet by pressing power button and then press volume down button for a few seconds when Motorola Dual Core Logo shows up, then press volume up button when Android recovery appear and it will take you to recovery mode (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).
Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.
Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. Then go to main menu, there select Advanced, then select wipe dalvik cache and confirm the action on the next screen.
Step #7: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.
Step #8: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.
Step #9: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
That’s it, the Android 4.1.2 OTA update has now been installed on your Motorola Xoom, a message “Congratulation! Your bootloader was successfully upgraded” should shows up immediately followed by an automatic reboot. Enjoy the newer Android version!
