Install official Android 4.1.2 Update for Galaxy S3 mini manually [How-To]
In recent times many Samsung smartphones received the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update such as Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 and now Samsung is rolling out the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 mini – the younger brother of original Galaxy S3.
Samsung has rolled out the Android 4.1.2 update for Galaxy S3 mini through OTA and just in Indonesia but if you have missed the update or can’t update device with OTA update or you’re in Indonesia and can’t wait for the update, simply install it manually on your phone using Odin3.
This guide shows you how to install official Android 4.1.2 I8190DXALL3 for Galaxy S3 mini. Keep in mind that this update is just for intentional Galaxy S3 mini variant having mode number I8190. Use a Windows PC with USB phone drivers installed, you may use Samsung KIES to install drivers but before installation disable it and be sure to back up everything because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #1: Download the Android 4.1.2 update (I8190DXALL3_4.1.2r.rar) and Odin3_v3.04.zip from XDA to your computer.
Step #2: Unzip both downloaded zip files into a folder.
Step #3: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin3 v3.04.exe.
Step #4: Turn the device off.
Step #5: Reboot the device into download mode, to do so reboot phone by holding down volume down, home and power buttons until it turns on and you see a warning screen, then press the volume up button to enter in download mode.
Step #6: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).
Step #7: Click on PDA Button and locate final.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 2. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #8: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation is done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.
Step #8: If your device reboot into normal mode, you’re done, enjoy! But if you device gets stuck at boot screen, you need to perform wipe, to do so, turn off device, then reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons, in recovery mode, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen. Once it done, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot phone.
