Install Official Android 4.1.2 Update on Galaxy Nexus Manually
Google has just rolled out the Android 4.1.2 update to Samsung Galaxy Nexus through OTA (over the air), the update brings some minor improvements such as the single digit expandable notification bar. You can upgrade your phone through OTA but those of you haven’t received the update or can’t install it trough OTA, can install Android 4.1.2 update manually.
The below guide will walk you through how to upgrade Samsung Galaxy Nexus to official Android 4.1.2 OTA update manually. There are two methods, read the method title and then follow according to requirements.

Method 1: Install Android 4.1.2 OTA on Galaxy Nexus having stock recovery, locked bootloader and no root
Step #1: Make sure your Galaxy Nexus is running JRN84D and newer ONLY, check your device detail from Setting>About Phone.
Step #2: Make sure the Android ADB are installed on your PC, check out this guide to install it.
Step #3: Download the Android 4.1.2 OTA for Galaxy Nexus from here [XDA Link] to your PC.
Step #4: Copy the update to the same folder as your ADB binary.
Step #5: Turn off your Galaxy Nexus.
Step #6: Reboot into stock recovery mode ((Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).
Step #7: Select apply update from ABD.
Step #8: Plug phone to PC.
Step #9: Open up the command prompt in the same directory as your ADB binary, if you’re using Windows 7 or above, to open the command prompt right click on the folder while holding down the shift button on your keyboard, then select open command prompt here.
Step #10: Enter following command to make sure the phone is connected to PC properly:

adb sideload name-of-file.zip
Step #12: Reboot phone.
Method 2: Install Android 4.1.2 on Galaxy Nexus having ClockworkMod Recovery installed
Step #1: Download the official Android 4.1.2 OTA update for Galaxy Nexus from here [XDA Link] to your PC (Note: Download according to your phone variant, you can check your device detail from Setting>About Phone).
Step #2: (Skip this step if you’re on any Jelly Bean build) Open the archive, then remove the recovery folder.
Step #3: Copy the .zip file to your Galaxy Nexus.
Step #4: Turn the device off.
Step #5: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, volume down and power buttons.
Step #6: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.
Step #7: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.
Step #8: Select “Install” and locate the .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.
Step #9: Once the installation is done, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot your phone.
