Install Official AOKP on Galaxy Nexus, Based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
After CyaogenMod 10, the AOKP custom ROM has become most popular for Android devices, the ROM is packed with number of customizable features and it gives you a bit faster performance, the latest AOKP build is based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and now available for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus officially. But honestly, the Jelly Bean based AOKP is currently under development stages, so bugs can be expected and but the developer will iron out them as soon as possible, so it’s worthy to try on your Android smartphone. Do keep in mind that this AOKP Jelly Bean build is just for international GSM Galaxy Nexus model number i9250, you may check your device detail from Setting>About Phone, don’t try the ROM on any other model and variant.

Be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded file to phone.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, volume down and power buttons until screen turns on, then select the recovery option and it will take you to recovery mode.
Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state, select “Backup”.
Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm the action.
Step #7: Return to main menu, select install and locate the ROM .zip file, once the ROM .zip file is installed, install the Google apps package in the same manner.
Step #8: Once the installation is completed, “Go Back” and “Reboot System”.
