Install Official ClockworkMod Recovery for Nexus 10 – Guide
Custom ROMs can provide you everything that you can’t find on stock official ROM, that’s the reason Android development community forums are flooded with a lot of custom ROMs such as XDA but you can’t install custom ROMs without a custom recovery and the ClockworkMod is one of most popular and best custom recovery out there. Koush (the developer of ClockworkMod recovery) has released the ClockworkMod recovery for the Nexus 10 tablet.
The ClockworkMod recovery (CWM) lets you to install .zip files containing custom ROMs, MODs and more. You can perform backups and wipe on your Samsung Nexus 10 with this recovery easily.
This guide shows you how to install ClockworkMod recovery for Nexus 10 tablet. Do keep in mind that the bootloader of your Nexus 10 must be unlocked, you can follow our this guide to unlock the Nexus 10 bootloader. Step #1: Download the one ClockworkMod recovery version:
- Touch ClockworkMod Recovery for Nexus 10 (recovery-clockwork-touch-220.127.116.11-manta.img)
- Non-touch ClockworkMod recovery for Nexus 10 (recovery-clockwork-18.104.22.168-manta.img)
Step #2: Download the Fastboot package (fastboot.zip) and unzip the fastboot.zip file into C:\, it will extract a fastboot folder having four files, then copy the .img file that you downloaded in previous step to fastboot folder too.
Step #3: Turn your tablet off.
Step #4: Reboot your Nexus 10 into fastboot mode, to do so reboot the phone by holding volume down and power buttons until screen turns with “Start” message.
Step #5: Plug your Nexus 10 to PC using USB cable, the computer may ask for drivers installation, allow installation.
Step #6: Open up command prompt, you can find it under Start menu>programs>accessories. If you’re using Windows 8, right-click on left corner of task bar.
Step #7: Enter following command on command prompt to navigate to fastboot folder:
Step #8: Enter following command to make sure your phone is connected to PC properly, if it shows serial number, your phone is connected.
Step #9: Enter following command to install CWM recovery:
If you want to install touch CWM recovery enter this command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-22.214.171.124-manta.img
If you want to install non-touch CWM recovery:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-126.96.36.199-manta.img
Once the installation is done, you’ll get a message “finished/OKAY”.
Step #10: Enter following command to reboot tablet:
That’s it, the ClockworkMod recovery is now installed on your phone. When you need to use CWM, turn your phone off and reboot it by holding down volume down and power buttons, it will take you to bootloader mode, there select recovery option to enter in recovery mode, enjoy!
