A few days ago ClockworkMod recovery released unofficially for Verizon Galaxy S3, the wait is over now, official ClockworkMod recovery is now available for your Verizon Galaxy S3, now you easily install .zip files containing your favorite custom ROMs, MODs, tweaks, etc, you can easily take the backup of your existing ROM, and wipe your phone.

If you already have installed the unofficial ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery, you still can install this official version. Take a look at below guide to learn how to install ClockworkMod recovery on Verizon Galaxy S3 but first make sure that bootloader of your phone is unlocked, you can follow our this guide to unlock bootloader and you also have to create a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps. Make sure phone drivers are installed on the PC, you can download them from here.

Instructions

Step #1: Download one of ClockworkMod recovery version from following links for your Verizon Galaxy S3 (Note: There are two versions of ClockworkMod recovery, touch and none-touch, if you select non-touch version, you’ll have to use physical keys of your phone in recovery mode and on the other hand touch version lets you use touch controls in recovery mode):

• Download Touch ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.1.2
• Download Non-Touch ClockworKMod Recovery 6.0.1.2

Step #2: Download required Odin v3.07 from here and unzip into a folder.

Step #3: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin.

Step #4: Turn the device off and put into download mode, to do so, reboot phone by holding down volume down, home and power buttons until you see warning screen on the phone, then press volume up button and it will take you to download mode.

Step #5: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).

Step #6: Click on PDA Button and locate DINRecovery.tar.md5 that you downloaded in step 1. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).

Step #7: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.

Step #8: That’s it, unplug the device from PC.
