Install Official ClockworkMod Touch Recovery on Galaxy S3 [How-To]
The Official version of ever-popular ClockworkMod Touch recovery is finally available for your newly purchased Samsung Galaxy S3, now you can easily install zip files, wipe your Galaxy S3, take the backup of existing ROM of your Smartphone and do much more. Since this is touch-based custom recovery, you no need to use physical keys in recovery mode, you can use touch controls in recovery mode, thanks to recognized XDA developer member mskip who brought this touch ClockworkMod recovery to us.
Please bear in mind that this recovery is compatible with just international variant of Samsung Galaxy S3 model number GT-I9300, don’t try it any other variant or model such as Verizon, Sprint, AT&T Galaxy S3, etc.
Here’s a step by step guide to install, before you install the recovery first make sure that the device battery is fully charged, you need a Windows PC and USB drivers should be installed on PC, you can download USB drivers from here or here. Disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program, please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #1: Download the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 22.214.171.124 and Odin3 v3.04 from XDA to computer and then unzip the Odin into a single folder.
Step #2: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin3 v3.04.exe.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into download mode by holding down volume down, home and power buttons at the same time, first a warning message will appear on the device then press the volume up button to enter into download mode.
Step #5: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If the PC doesn’t detect the device, you may have problems in USB drivers).
Step #6: Click on PDA Button and locate s3-touch-recovery.tar file that you’ve downloaded in first step. Don’t make any other changes in Odin, just make sure ‘Auto Reboot’ and ‘F.Reset Time’ are ticked.
Step #7: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS. If the Odin gets stuck or you get a message saying fail, unplug the device from computer, close the Odin, remove battery from the device for a few seconds, then re-insert the battery again and reboot the device into download mode and install the recovery again.
Step #8: That’s it, when Samsung logo appear, unplug the device from PC and enjoy!
Now whenever you need to put the device into download mode, just turn the device and reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons until screen turns on.
