Install Official CM10 Jelly Bean Based on Samsung Epic 4G
Android is bit different than other mobile platforms, Android users can get firmware updates before the official updates, it brings cooperation between developers and users, as Samsung has stopped releasing official updates for Samsung Epic 4G but you can still update your smartphone to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean via CyanogenMod 10 ROM, a recognized XDA developer CMTeamEpic has released the CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) officially for the Samsung Epic 4G.
The CM10 ROM gives you fully stock Android experience and brings a smooth performance to your smartphone, the Jelly Bean comes with number of new features and apps such as new notification bar with more features, new camera app and keyboard, new search feature, Google Now app and much more.
It’s nightly CM10 build that make a new build daily itself. Do bear in mind that the ROM is currently in development stages, which means, it might has some bugs, you can’t adjust the maximum CPU frequency, mic isn’t working, when you use wall charge, it may enter in sleep and Occassional reboot possibility is present, but the CyanogenMod team will iron out them soon in near future.

The ClockworkMod recovery must be installed on your smartphone and you also have to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded .zip files to the internal SD card of device.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume down, camera and power buttons (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).
Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.
Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.
Step #7: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete, once the ROM .zip file is installed, also install the Google Apps package .zip file in the manner.
Step #8: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
