Install Rooted Stock ROM on Verizon Galaxy S3

A root method and ClockworkMod recovery is already available for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, but both method are bit tricky, that’s why, another method of rooting for the Verizon Galaxy S3 also has been released, simply install a pre-rooted stock ROM on your Verizon Galaxy S3 to enjoy root access. This ROM also remove number of bloatware from the smartphone that will increase the storage space, thanks to XDA developer member invesiblek. 

Read on how to install pre-rooted stock ROM on Verizon Galaxy S3, the ROM is based on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. Disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program, please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps, and turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development. The phone drivers should be installed on your computer, if you haven’t installed the drivers, download drivers from here and install on the computer.

Instructions

Step #1: Download following required files to your computer: Odin3 – pre-rooted I535VRALF2 ROM (stripped.rooted.system.img.tar.md5.zip, md5sum: 4d664b60b1ad5952a332bd1d78aa228b)

Step #2: Unzip the both downloaded .zip files into a folder.

Step #3: On your PC run the Odin3 v3.07.exe that you got in step 2 by double clicking on it.

Step #4: Turn your smartphone off.

Step #5: Reboot the phone into download mode by holding down volume down, home and power buttons until a warring message appear on the phone, then press the volume up button, it will enter the device into download mode, an Android logo with downloading message will show up which means device is in download mode.

Step #6: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM box’s color will be changed, and a message saying ADDED will appear (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the phone, you have problem in device drivers).

Step #7: Click on PDA Button and locate stripped.rooted.system.img.tar.md5 that you got in step 2 (Note: Don’t make any other changes in Odin, just ensure that Re-partition option isn’t selected.

Step #8: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS, once the device is rebooted, it may stuck at Samsung logo, don’t worry, just unplug it from PC (Note: If Odin show a message fail or gets stuck, unplug the phone from PC and remove batter from it, then put battery back to device, close Odin, then put device into download mode and install the file again).

Step #9: That’s it, unplug the device from PC (Note: If device gets stuck at boot, turn the device off and reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons, in recovery mode perform wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. Then select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now”, the device will reboot into normal mode now).
