Install SlimBean ROM for Nexus 4 – Extremely Lightweight ROM
Custom ROMs coming to Nexus 4 quickly, we have already seen AOKP and now the Slim Bean ROM has also been released, thanks to recognized XDA developer member Kravind for porting SlimBean ROM to Nexus 4. The Slim Bean ROM is known for its minimal size and less bloatware, though it’s lightweight but it offers a decent list of useful features such as multi-DPI Play Store, faster performance, numerous customization options to customize the interface and more.
However currently the pre-alpha build is available for the Nexus 4 and it’s still being updated, so you can expect bugs from the ROM like the developer mentioned that Faceunlock and auto restore aren’t working but hopefully developer will fix all bugs soon in near future. So you should give it a try to taste a clean interface.
This guide shows you how to install Slim Bean ROM on Nexus 4. The bootloader of your Nexus 4 must be unlocked and ClockworkMod recovery should be installed on it. Check out this guide to unlock bootloader and this guide to install ClockworkMod. Be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #1: Download the latest version of Slim Bean ROM for Nexus 4 from here [XDA Link], you need to download three files – latest version of Slim Bean, multi-DPI store and Android 4.2 Google Apps Package.
Step #2: Transfer all downloaded three .zip files to your Nexus 4.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode, to do so reboot phone by holding down volume down and power buttons to in bootloader mode, there select recovery option to enter in recovery mode.
Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.
Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.
Step #7: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.
Step #8: Select “Install” and locate the downloaded Slim Bean ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.
Step #9: Repeat the previous step again and install the Android 4.2 Google App Package .zip file in the same manner.
Step #10: Once again repeat the step 8 and this time install multi-DPI Play store .zip file.
Step #11: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot the device.
