Install Stable CM10 Jelly Bean on Asus Transformer


Not a while ago, the Asus Transformer TF101 received the CyanogenMod 10 build but that was just a preview build and has many bugs. But now an unofficial CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean is now also available for your Transformer that is very stable, developed by a senior XDA developer member RaymanFX.

The Jelly Bean comes with number of new and useful features such as improved notification bar, improved camera app, new keyboard, new search feature, Google Now app, and more, it brings a smooth interface to your Asus tablet . As most of you know well that the CyanogenMod ROM is packed with lots of customizable features to customize different aspect of your device’s interface.

Although it’s very stable CyanogenMod 10 build but since it’s unofficial, it may contains some bugs like the developer mentioned that NTFS R/W isn’t working.

Read on how to install Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean based unofficial CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) on Asus Transformer TF101. The ClockworkMod custom recovery must be installed on your tablet, and be sure to create a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of unofficial CyanogenMod 10 ROM from here [XDA Link]and Google Apps from here or here.

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded files to SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume down and power buttons , when scrolling words appears on screen, press the volume up to enter in recovery mode (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #7: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.

Step #8: Once the ROM .zip file is installed on the tablet, once again repeat the step 7 and also install Google apps .zip file in the same manner.

Step #9: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
