Install Stock Rooted Android 4.2.1 ROM for Nexus 4
Almost one or two weeks ago the Nexus 4 received the Android 4.2.1 update through OTA that is especially rolled out to fix December bug in Calendar app but since OTA update voids the root access, some people don’t apply OTA update. But here’s a stock rooted and deodexed Android 4.2.1 ROM for the Nexus 4, you also use this ROM to root your Nexus 4 Android 4.2.1 firmware. Thanks to recognized XDA developer member Geo411m.
The below guide will walk you through how to install pre-rooted stock Android 4.2.1 ROM for Nexus 4, your phone bootloader must be unlocked and ClockworkMod recovery should be installed on it. Check out this guide to unlock bootloader and this guide to install ClockworkMod. Be sure to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #1: Download the pre-rooted stock Android 4.2.1 ROM for Nexus 4 from here.
Step #2: Transfer the downloaded file to SD card of device.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, volume down and power buttons.
Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.
Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. Lastly select advanced> Dalvik Cache and confirm the action.
Step #7: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.
Step #8: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.
Step #9: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot your Nexus 4.
That’s it, you’re done, your Nexus 4 is rooted now while running Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean JO940D build. If you experience any error during the installation, do comment.
