Install TouchWiz4 XXJW4 Value Pack Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000

Samsung Galaxy S users should not be worried about official Ice Cream Sandwich update, Samsung has released value pack XXJW4 firmware that has fantastic features such as Face Unlock, TouchWiz 4, Photo Editor, better GPU performance and updated Google Apps. Not Ice Cream Sandwich but has awesome features and improvements, so now you should install this official value pack, follow below guide.

Install TouchWiz4 XXJW4 Value Pack Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000

Before you start, first note that you’ll need a Windows PC, disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program, please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure will wipe all data, you can use file expert app to backup. Samsung USB drivers should be installed on PC, you can download 32-bit Windows drivers from here and for 64-bit Windows from here. You’ll also need to install Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread value pack XXJVU on your Samsung Galaxy S before you proceed this guide.

DISCLAIMER: The below method is bit risky and we will not be held responsible if you lose data or your device gets damaged in the following of this guide so please proceed at your own risk.

Instructions

Step #1: Download XXJW4 Firmware and Odin3 v1.7 to your PC.

Step #2: Now unzip XXJW4 zip file into a single folder, you’ll get JW4_JW4_JW4.tar.

Step #3: Now turn  the Samsung Galaxy S off completely and reboot into recovery mode, by pressing the Volume Up key, Home button, and Power button simultaneously until the screen lights up, at which point you may release the buttons.

Step #4: Select Wipe data/factory reset and confirm Yes on the next screen.

Step #5: Once again remove the battery and re-insert it and don’t turn on it,

Step #6: At this point with your off device hold down the Volume Down key, Home button, and Power button at the same time until you see the download mode screen.

Step #7: On your PC, double-click on the Odin3 executable file.

Step #8: Plug the device to PC, Odin3 will detect the device with a message “Added”, however if Odin don’t detect, you’ve haven’t installed drivers properly.

Step #9: Click the PDA button in Odin3 and select JW4_JW4_JW4.tar. After that click the Start button in Odin3 to start installing the firmware.

Once the installation is done, your device will automatically reboot, and Odin3 will display a PASS message on Odin3 window. That’s it you’ve installed the XXJW4 firmware, enjoy and don’t forget to comment below. You can also visit the official thread of XDA here.

      reboot phone into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons, there perform wipe, select wipe factory reset and then reboot phone, it should then reboot into normal mode without any bootloop…….
