Install TWRP Recovery for HTC Droid DNA – Guide


The TWRP is one of most popular custom recovery that can give something more than basic features, you can’t only install custom ROMs, perform backup and wipe but also can do a lot more with TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) like TWRP recovery offers an impressive touch-interface, file manager app, theme manager app, on-screen keyboard to name and rename backups and much more. A recognized XDA developer member Dees_Troy has released the TWRP recovery for the HTC Droid DNA. Verizon surprisingly offers ability to unlock the bootloader on Droid DNA, so you’re able install custom ROMs and other tweaks on your Droid DNA smartphone with custom recoveries.

This guide shows you how to install TWRP recovery for Droid DNA. Make sure the bootloader of your phone is unlocked, you can follow our this guide to unlock the bootloader of your Droid DNA. You need a Windows PC with USB phone drivers installed, you can HTC Sync to install drivers.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the TWRP Recovery (openrecovery-twrp-2.3.2.0-dlx.img) and Fastboot Package (fastboot.zip) from XDA to your PC.

Step #2: Unzip fastboot.zip file into C:\ to generate fastboot folder, then copy the .img file of recovery to fastboot folder.

Step #3: Turn off your Droid DNA.

Step #4: Reboot phone by holding down volume down and power buttons, it will take you to bootloader mode, there use volume keys to navigate and power button to select. You need to select fastboot option to enter in fastboot mode.

Step #5: Plug phone to PC using a USB cable and open up the command prompt that can be found under start menu>programs>accessories.

Step #6: Enter following commands to navigate to fastboot folder and to generate the serial number of your phone, if you get serial number, your phone is connect to PC properly, otherwise not:

cd c:\fastboot

fastboot devices

Step #7: Now enter following commands to install CWM recovery:

fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.3.2.0-dlx.img

Step #8: Once the installation is done, enter following command to reboot phone:

fastboot reboot

Step #9: Disconnect the phone from PC.

That’s it, the TWRP Recovery is now installed on your Droid DNA, try it, turn off phone and reboot it by holding down volume down and power buttons, it will enter device in bootloader mode, there select recovery option to enter in recovery mode.
