Install TWRP Recovery for Verizon Razr HD XT926 [How-To]


TWRP Recovery is now available for Verizon Razr HD. The TWRP Recovery is one of most useful recovery from TeamWin, it offers an excellent bunch of features that you can’t find in other recoveries. It has innovative touch-interface and it’s pretty easy to install .zip files, perform backups and wipe with TWRP. It features in-built file manager app, you can rename your backups and arrange them in a proper manners. It support themes too and has many other features.

The below guide will walk you through how to install TWRP recovery on Droid Razr HD XT926 developer edition. Make sure your phone is rooted and have unlocked bootloader, unlock the bootloader officially from here and follow this guide to root your Razr HD. Android ADB also should be installed on your computer, you can follow our this guide to install them. You need to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Rename the stock recovery, because stock recovery may replace the ClockworkMod after reboot. To do so, perform following steps:

  • A root-enabled file manager app should be installed on your phone such as file expert.
  • Launch file manager app.
  • Go to setting.
  • Scroll down to Root Setting and select it.
  • Now enable Root Explorer option, then click on Allow/Grant on next popup too.
  • Also enable “Up to Root” and “Mount File System”.
  • Return to main menu of app.
  • Navigate to /system/etc folder.
  • Rename the RECOVERY.SH file to any name you want. It depends on you what name you want.

Step #2: Download Fastboot package (fastboot.zip) and TWRP Recovery from XDA (link is at the bottom of post) to your PC.

Step #3: Extract the fastboot.zip file into C:\ to get fastboot folder having four files, then copy the .img file of recovery to fastboot folder that you obtained.

Step #4: Turn your Motorola Razr HD off and reboot your Razr HD into bootloader mode by holding down volume up, volume down and power buttons, there select AP Fastboot to enter in fasboot mode (you can use volume keys to navigate and power key to select).

Step #6: Connect your Droid Razr HD to PC using a USB cable, you’ll be asked to install drivers, install them.

Step #7: Open up command prompt, you can get from Start menu>Programs>Accessories, on command prompt enter following command to navigate to fastboot folder:

cd c:\ fastboot

Step #8: Enter another following command, it will show serial number of your phone, if it shows serial number, your phone is connected to PC properly:

fasboot devices

Step #9: Enter following command to install recovery:

fastboot flash recovery twrp-recovery-vanquish.img

Step #10: Enter following command to reboot your phone again into bootloader mode:

fastboot reboot-bootloader

Once you’re in bootloader mode, select recovery to enter in recovery mode.

That’s it, great job, the TWRP recovery has been installed on your Verizon Droid Razr HD.
