How To Install TWRP Recovery On Moto E 2015 [Non-3G]


Motorola has addressed the budget phone market in a nice way with Moto E. The Motorola’s Moto E is one of best much affordable smartphone available in the world with Lollipop and some other nice reasons. It seems that Motorola has done best to pack as many classic Moto features as possible for the Moto E 2015. Even now, third party development community is playing with this budget and generating what is possible. In order to taste the custom firmware with some extra features, XDA community has dropped the TWRP for the phone.

Keep in mind that since this is an early version of phone, it may contain bug. But we hope the developer will drop very stable and bug-less version soon. Read on how to install this Moto E 2015 TWRP recovery. Take a look at what you need:

Motorola’s Moto E 2015 (Do not try on any 3G version).
Use a Windows computer and make phone drivers are installed. Do also make sure that Android SDK and fastboot drivers are installed on PC.
Enable USB debugging on phone.
Make sure the bootloader of device is unlocked (Check: How To Unlock Moto E 2015 Bootloader).

How To Install TWRP Recovery On Moto E 2015

Step #1: Download the TWRP for your phone.

Step #2: Turn off your Moto E and boot in fastboot mode. To do this, boot phone by holding down the power and volume down buttons, keep an eye on screen for more instructions.

Step #3: Connect the device to computer with the help of a USB cable.

Step #4: Copy the downloaded .img file into androidsdk/platform-tools folder.

Step #5: Open command prompt and navigate to the folder where you have the androidsdk/platform-tools, if you are on Windows 7 or above, you can open the command directly from the folder, to do so open the folder, there press right click while holding down shift button on keyboard and then select “open command window here”.

Step #6: In CMD, issue the following command to make sure whether your phone is connected to computer properly or now (it should show you status with your phone’s data):

fastboot devices

Step #7: Once you are ensured the phone is connected to PC properly, issue following command and press enter:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

# or

fastboot boot recovery.img

Step #8: After installation, disconnect the device from computer. You are done.
