Install Ubuntu and Backtrack on Galaxy S3
If you own a Android device it doesn’t meant that you should use just Android operating system on your device, a Smartphone make your life smarter and since Android is a open source operating system you can easily customize your Android device, hardworking developers works to release new apps that can be used to customize your Android device.
You should also try computer operating systems on your Smartphone, this is what, smartphones are famous for, as you know that a Smartphone can’t be a computer, a computer operating system offers more features than the Smartphone but you can also get number of news features by using a computer OS on the device, it’s a fun and if you own a Samsung Galaxy S3, you would be happy to know now you can install Ubuntu or Backtrack Linuxs on your Smartphone.
Thanks to XDA developer member tiborr who made it possible, Android is already a Linux based mobile operating system by Google and Ubuntu is also one of familiar computer operating system. Try it on your Galaxy S3 and enjoy the fun.
Before you do anything first be sure to charge the device battery of your device because the device may gets turned off in the mid of installation. Developer recommend you to install the OMEGA custom ROM on your device that can be install via ClockworkMod recovery, you can follow this guide to install the recovery and install the ROM from here.
You need to install the Terminal Emulator app that can be download from here, you also need to unstall the AndroidVNC, Ubuntu and BusyBox app, you can download the AndroidVNC app from here, Ubuntu app from here and BuxyBox app from here, then head over to original XDA thread here to get instructions for installation of Ubuntu.
