Install Unofficial CyanogenMod 9 on Galaxy Note SGH-I717

Mostly people like to install CyanogenMod 9 on their Android devices due to its highly customization options. Finally the CyanogenMod 9 is available for the AT&T Galaxy Note SGH-I717. The ROM brings a smooth experience on your Galaxy Note, however it’s unofficial version of CyanogenMod 9 which means it has some bugs.

If you want to taste CyanogenMod 9 on your galaxy note, read on how to install it but keep in mind that this is just for AT&T Galaxy Note model number SGH-i717, so don’t try it any other model or device, you can check the device detail from Setting>About Phone. Your device must be on UCLD3 firmware, follow this guide to install the firmware and ClockworkMod recovery also should be installed on your device follow this guide to install recovery.

Before you start installation first charge the battery of device and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the unofficial CyanogenMod 9 and Google Apps to your PC.

Step #2: Plug the device to PC using USB cable.

Step #3: Transfer the downloaded file to SD card of device.

Step #4: Disconnect the device from PC.

Step #5: Turn the device off.

Step #6: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down the volume up and power button, when screen turn on leave the power button and keep holding volume up to enter in recovery mode. (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #7: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #8: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded ROM file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #9: Return to main recovery menu.

Step #10: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #11: Once again select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” but this time locate the downloaded Google apps that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #12: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
