Jelly Bean Based AOKP for HTC EVO 4G [How-To]

AOKP is well-known for customizable options and it includes powerful features, the latest AOKP version is based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and now available for HTC EVO 4G. The ROM brings a smooth performance, the Jelly Bean also comes with number of useful features such as improved keyboard, improved notification bar, Google Now and more. The ROM is still in development stage, some things aren’t working such as Camera, 4G Netflix, Hulu Plus, HBO or whatever you guys watch and Bootanimation loops aren’t working.

Take a look at below guide to install Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean AOKP on HTC EVO 4G. Keep in mind the ROM is just for HTC EVO 4G, don’t try it on HTC EVO 4G LTE. The bootloader of your phone must be unlocked and AmaonRa recovery also must be installed on the phone that can be found here. Don’t use any other recovery. Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here.

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded file to SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume down and power button, first the device will enter in bootloader mode, there navigate to recovery with volume keys and select with power button

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select mounts and storage, then select format system, and confirm format on next screen.

Step #7: Go to main menu, there select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #8: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
