Jelly Bean Based “RemICS-JB” ROM for Galaxy S GT-I9000

The Samsung Galaxy S is still a powerful device that is able to run the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, you can’t forget the Galaxy S yet. RemICS-JB is a new custom ROM for the Galaxy S that is based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. The ROM features Devil kernel, build.prop tweaks and custom Apex Launcher. It also includes Me App, CWM Script, OI Filemanager and init.d tweaks. The ROM also features Galaxy S3-like user interface and Galaxy S3’s sounds & wallpaper. As most you know well that Jelly Bean ROMs are still in development, so bugs can be expected.

Read on how RemICS-JB can be installed on your Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000, make sure that your Galaxy S is on XXJW4 firmware and rooted with ClockworkMod recovery install, you can check the device detail from Setting>About Phone, you can install the XXJW4 firmware here, after that root and install ClockworkMod recovery on the device here. Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps and charge the device battery because the device may get turned off during the process.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the latest version of ROM from here.

Step #2: Transfer the downloaded file to the internal SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, power and home buttons until screen turns on.

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. Lastly wipe delvik cache from advanced.

Step #7: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #8: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
