Jelly Bean Based Slim Bean ROM for Samsung Captivate I897 – Trimmed Size ROM, Features Bring Fast Performance

The Slim Bean ROM is becoming more and more popular day by day, with AOSP Jelly Bean codes, developers are porting the ROM to more and more Android device, like just after Nexus S, the Slim Bean ROM is now also available for the Samsung Captivate, thanks to recognized XDA contributor member krarvind. The Slim Bean ROM is based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, Slim Bean is really a lightweight custom ROM, the ROM’s size is just 50MB or 70MB. The developers has added number of customizable features of CM10 and AOKP, it also has number of other useful tweaks, MODs and features, the interface is pretty eye-catching, it supports five different languages, there’s no bloatware in Slim Bean custom ROM. It’s AOSP custom ROM, so it will give you fully stock Android experience, but since Jelly Bean for Samsung Captivate is under development, you may face bugs but the developer will iron out them soon in near future.

Read on how to install Slim Bean ROM on Samsung Captivate, the ClockworkMod recovery must be installed on your smartphone and be sure to create backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download following four required files: Slim Bean Custom ROM - Common_2.x.x. (Note: You may check this link to download the latest version of ROM).

Step #2: Copy both downloaded .zip files into the internal SD card of device.

Step #3: Turn the device off and reboot into recovery mode by holding down the volume up, volume down and power buttons.

Step #4: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #5: Perform wipe, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #6: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded Slim Bean ROM .zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation (Note: The phone may reboot during the installation, after rebooting, the installation will start again itself, if the phone doesn’t continue the installation, repeat this step again).

Step #7: Once the ROM .zip file is installed on your phone, install the command .zip file in same manner.

Step #8: Once the installation is completed, simply reboot phone and enjoy, to do select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now”.

      make sure your zip file is located at root of your internal storage, root mean put file directly to internal storage not on any folder…..
