Leaked XXDLG4 Jelly Bean Firmware for Galaxy S3 I9300

According to some resources, Samsung will release Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update officially for the Samsung Galaxy S3 at the end of this month but an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based firmware already has been leaked for the phone, “XXDLG4”, which confirms that the Samsung will roll out Jelly Bean update for its flagship Galaxy S3 smartphone soon in near future, might be at this month, say thanks to XDA developer member named Faryab and guys behind Sam Mobile for this great effort.

The firmware is just for international variant of Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300, do keep in mind that this is just a test build, so it may contains many bugs, developers told us that they have experienced some issues, like internal SD card is getting deleted, and you may face issues in some apps. The firmware may not stable, I don’t recommend you to flash this firmware but if you can’t wait for official update and really want to taste Jelly Bean, follow below step by step guide to install leaked XXDLG4 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based firmware on Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300, this is just for international variant model I9300, don’t try on any model.

Disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program, please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps, and turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development. Device USB drivers should be installed on your PC, you can download 32 bit (x86) Windows drivers from here and 64-bit (x64) Windows from here.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the I9300XXDLG4 firmware (I9300XXDLG4_NO_CSC_NO_MODEM.zip) to your PC, then unzip into a folder.

Step #2: Download Odin3_v3.04.zip to your PC, unzip it too into a folder.

Step #2: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin3 v3.04.exe.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into download mode by holding down volume down, home and power buttons until screen turn on, then press volume up to enter in download mode.

Step #5: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM’s color will change and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).

Step #6: Click on PDA Button and locate CODE_I9300XXDLG4_11164_REV00_eng_mid_noship.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 2. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).

Step #7: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.

Step #8: That’s it, if your device reboot into normal mode, you’re done, unplug the device from PC and enjoy but if your device gets stuck at reboot, turn off phone, then reboot into recovery mode by holding down home, volume up and power buttons until screen turns on. In recovery mode perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen then select wipe cache and confirm on the next screen. After that reboot phone, to do so return to main menu by selecting go back and then select “Reboot System Now.”
