Learn How to Root Your AT&T Xperia ION
Sony released the Xperia ION with powerful specs such as 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB inter storage space with microSD slot option and 12MP camera, it’s NFC enabled Sony smartphone, it also has BRAVIA Engine that will lets you to take better quality photos with your 12MP camera.
Those of you have purchased the Xperia ION and now thinking what to do with newly purchased device, here’s something interesting for them, root has been achieved on the Xperia ION, now you’re able to flash custom recoveries, custom ROMs, MODs and apply hacks on your device, here’s guide to root your Xperia ION, just root and be able to install all root-required apps on your device.
Do keep in mind that rooting will void the restrictions of Sony on the phone, which means it will also void the warranty of your phone, you’ll have to install a stock Android firmware again to get the warranty back, so thing before you proceed.
Before rooting first make sure that the device’s bootloader is unlocked, don’t try this rooting method on any locked Xperia ION and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps and turn the USB Debugging on, to do so just tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development.

Instructions
Step #1: Download one of following firmware according to your device’s firmware:
Step #2: Download Xperia ION Root Package to your PC.
Step #3: Unzip the downloaded root package into folder.
Step #4: Plug your Xperia ION to the PC using USB cable.
Step #5: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped the root package and double click on rootme. It will start rooting, once it done your phone will reboot.
Step #6: Once the phone is booted, unplug from PC.
That’s it, you’re done, the last thing you need to do is that open the Google Play store, there download and install Super User and BusyBox apps on your phone.
