Step #1: Install Android SDK on your Computer, you can download it from here, and for Windows User, need to install few drivers from here.

Step #2: Now to install the Fastboot tool.

Step #3: Move the Fastboot file to the SDK/ platform-tools.

Step #4: Now on your Nexus, go to the menu button from the homescreen and navigate to the Settings and then to the Developer options. Select the box for the USB Debugging.

Step #5: Connect your Nexus to the Computer installed with the Android SDK using USB cable.

Step #6: Boot to the Fastboot application. Open the terminal window in the ADB directory.

In Windows : Select the folder, right click on it and then select “Open Command Window Here”.

In Mac : In terminal Write the command adb reboot bootloader

Step #7: After the above command here you are with the phone rebooting into the bootloader. You can assume by seeing the Android opened within its backside.

Now type the another command :

fastboot oem unlock

Now confirming the unlocking of bootloader with the help of volume keys, you are here now with the Galaxy Nexus rebooting next time with an unlocked bootloader.
