If you are an owner of Xperia Mini Pro and want to upgrade this with CyanogenMod 7.2 and you are using Android 2.3.7 you are on a right place below you can see the step-by-step guide for this reason. Here I’d like to say that you need a Rooted device and the below steps are just for Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro don’t try this on other devices.
There is also a main step that you need to do first of all and that is USB Debugging on your device, you can do this to Settings > Applications > Development.
For this purpose you need A Windows PC with access to the Internet and 7-Zip installed in your PC Download the installer from here. You also need to unlock the bootloader of your device. You can find the steps here.
DISCLAIMER: The below method is bit risky and we will not be held responsible if you lose data or your device gets damaged in the following of this guide so please proceed at your own risk.
First of all you need to download the CyanogenMod 7.2 file from here and extract the file using 7-Zip.
Use USB cable to connect the device to your PC. And copy the Google Apps installer file [you’ll see this in the CyanogenMod 7.2 file package] and the CyanogenMod update file into the root directory of the SD card that you are using for the device.
Now search for the location of fastboot.exe. It will usually be placed under platform-tools or tools folder of the Android SDK installation folder on your PC.
Now Copy boot.img,, into the folder where fastboot.exe is also placed.
Then disconnect the device from the PC and Turn Off the phone, press and hold down the Search button on the device and even as doing so, connect the device to the PC again.
Then open the folder where fastboot.exe is placed and do a Shift + Right-click and on the menu and select “Open command window here”.
Then type “fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img” On the terminal or the command window and after that press Enter.
Type “fastboot -i 0xfce reboot” without the double quotes and after that press Enter.
The device will reboot and now use down the Volume Up and Volume Down key together to access ClockworkMod Recovery while rebooting.
Then Backup the existing ROM by going to “Backup and Restore” option from the menu and also do a complete wipe to select “Wipe data / factory reset”.
Do “Wipe Cache Partition” to Clear system cache.
Then go to “Install zip from sdcard” to install the ROM. For this purpose you need to select “Choose zip from sdcard” option. Also select the CyanogenMod update file and verify that you want to flash it.
Then you need to repeat this step for the Google Apps file.
After this procedure, GO BACK to the main menu and select “Reboot system now”.
That’s it, if you’ll follow the steps accurately you can do it without of any trouble and here I’d like to give the credit of this post to Android Authority for this effort.
