Official Android 4.0.4 ICS XWLPO Firmware for Galaxy S2
Not a while ago, Samsung released the XWLPM firmware that based on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich for Samsung Galaxy S2, the firmware was available just for Russia and now Samsung also has released the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich based XWLPO firmware update for Nordic countries such as United Kingdom, Hungry, Austria, Germany and others.
The update comes with better performance and improvements, Samsung may take time to release the update for other countries, but you can install the XWLPO firmware manually on any Galaxy S2 GT-I9100, follow the below guide to install Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich XWLPO firmware on your Galaxy S2 manually.
Before installation first make sure that USB drivers are installed on your computer, you can download 32 bit (x86) Windows drivers from here and 64-bit (x64) Windows drivers from here. Disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program, please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Step #1: Download the XWLPO firmware from here.
Step #2: Unzip the above downloaded file, you’ll get I9100XWLPO_I9100NEELP4_I9100XXLQ6_HOME.tar.md5.
Step #3: Get Odin3 from file unzip into a folder.
Step #4: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin.
Step #5: Turn the device off.
Step #6: Reboot the device into download mode by holding down volume down, home and power buttons until a warning screen appear, then press the volume up button and it will take you to download mode.
Step #7: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).
Step #8: Click on PDA Button and locate I9100XWLPO_I9100NEELP4_I9100XXLQ6_HOME.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 2. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #9: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.
Step #10: If the device is booted up completely, simply unplug from the PC, but if get stuck at boot, you need perform a wipe, to do so, turn the phone off and reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power button. In recovery mode, select Wipe data/Factory Reset and confirm the action, once it done, simply select reboot system now, it will reboot the device into normal mode.
