Official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Hits US Xoom Wi-Fi, Installation Guide

The most awaited update, the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean finally has been rolled out for the Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi, currently the update is available just for US variant of Wi-Fi Motorola Xoom. Google released the Jelly Bean with number of new features and apps, it brings a better UI, improved camera app that enables you to review photos film-strip, new Google Now App, better Android Beam app, improved notification, you can receive email, text, call and more from the notification center and much more.

On your Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi, go to setting and check for Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update notification, you may wait for the notification if you haven’t received. However if you can’t receive the notification due to any reason, or the update isn’t available in your country currently and you can’t wait, you also have option to install the Android 4.1 update on any Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi manually.

Here’s a step by step guide to install Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on US Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi Wingray, do keep in mind that your device must be on official Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich IMM76 firmware, be sure to check the device detail from Setting>About Tablet.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean JRO03H from Google.

Step #2: Rename the downloaded .zip file to update.zip.

Step #3: Copy the update.zip file to a USB stick or SD card that can be put in a USB Stick.

Step #4: Power off your Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi.

Step #5: Reboot tablet by holding down volume down and power button, until you see message Android Recover. Then press the volume up button to enter into recovery mode. Then at Android logo, press power and Volume up button, you’ll see recovery menu.

Step #6: Connect the device to USB host cable to USB drive, then plug it with Xoom.

Step #7: Highlight “apply update from USB drive” using volume keys, and select it with Power button.

Step #8: Now select the update.zip file that you renamed in step 2. The update installation will start.

Step #9: Once the installation is done, reboot device from recovery mode.
