Official Jelly Bean Update Leaks for Sprint Galaxy S3 – Installation Guide

Just one international Galaxy S3 variant has just received the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean firmware update officially and other variants are still waiting for the OTA notification even the update for international variant isn’t available for all countries but a few. However US variants can try the leaked updates, after the T-Mobile Galaxy S3, an official OTA L710SPRBLIF Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update also has  been released for the Sprint Galaxy S3, thanks to recognized XDA developer member freeza.

The developer hasn’t just received the update but also root it. The below guide will walk you through how to install leaked SPRBLIF Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update on Sprint Galaxy S3. Since this leaked update, there might be some issues with it and it may not be stable for the daily use.

The ClockworkMod Recovery must be installed on your Sprint Galaxy S3, you can follow our this guide or this guide to install ClockworkMod. You also need to make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the Leaked Sprint Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean Update (LIF_update_FULL_DeOdex.zip) and the required Modem (Galaxy-S-fre3-LIFFirmwareModemAIO.zip).

Step #2: Place both downloaded .zip files to the internal storage of your Sprint Galaxy S3.

Step #3: Turn the device off.

Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons (Note: In recovery mode use volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this firmware, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again.

Step #6: Perform full wipe, first select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.

Step #7: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.

Step #8: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded LIF_update_FULL_DeOdex.zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation. Wait till installation complete.

Step #9: Repeat the previous step and install the Galaxy-S-fre3-LIFFirmwareModemAIO.zip file in the same manner.

Step #10: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot your Sprint smartphone.
